A case is which Muhammad Shayan practices unethical practices on Fiveer and other freelance sites.
This is to bring attention to an alarming incident involving a freelancer on the Fiverr website, which raises serious ethical and professional concerns. Below is a detailed account of the situation:
Incident Overview with Fiverr Vendor
1.Initial Order Placement:
We placed an order with the freelancer for backlinks to be added to our website. His name is Muhammad Shayan and currently works for TechVolte. However, during the payment process, we encountered an issue where the freelancer’s payment method was incompatible with our bank. This made it impossible to proceed with the transaction.
2.Clear Communication to Cancel the Order:
Recognizing this issue, we immediately informed the freelancer, before the work had begun, that the order could not be completed and instructed them to cancel and disregard the request. This communication made it clear that no work should proceed under these circumstances.
3.Freelancer’s Unauthorized Action:
Despite being explicitly told to cancel the order, the freelancer later returned, claiming they had completed the work and demanded payment. This was done without our approval or agreement, violating the principle of consent in professional transactions.
4.Threats and Coercion:
When we reiterated that no payment could be made due to the cancelled order, the freelancer threatened to place backlinks to our site on adult websites unless we paid them. This act of intimidation is profoundly unethical, leveraging potential harm to our business’s reputation as a means of forcing payment.
Why This Behavior is Deeply Unethical
1.Lack of Professional Integrity:
Proceeding with work after explicit instructions to cancel demonstrates a blatant disregard for professional boundaries and agreements. Freelancers must respect the decisions and instructions of their clients.
2.Coercion and Extortion:
Threatening to harm a business by associating it with inappropriate or damaging content—such as backlinks on adult websites—is a clear act of extortion. This behavior not only breaches professional ethics but could also have legal implications.
3.Potential Harm to Reputation:
Backlinks placed on adult websites can severely damage a business’s reputation, SEO rankings, and credibility with customers. It demonstrates an intent to harm, which is entirely unacceptable and contrary to the principles of fair business practices.
4.Undermines Trust in Freelancer Platforms:
When freelancers engage in such tactics, it undermines trust in the entire platform, both for clients and other ethical freelancers. Clients must feel safe when working with freelancers, knowing their businesses and reputations will not be threatened or exploited.
