MY MOTTO

Sky above me, Earth below me, Fire within me

Birth of a Post Production Editor

The journey to becoming a post-production editor can take many forms, and mine began in the close-knit town of Mt. Holly, North Carolina. From an early age, I had a keen eye for detail and a deep love of stories. Even as a child, I’d catch if a word was changed or a page was skipped in my bedtime stories, sparking a lifelong passion for reading. As a teenager, I devoured six to seven books a month, often retreating to the shade of a tree with a new book in hand. This love for stories didn’t just fuel my imagination; it taught me to appreciate the intricacies of storytelling and the power of small details.

Growing up as the middle sibling with two brothers, I naturally became the observant and supportive member of our family. I picked up on subtle dynamics that others might miss, a skill that honed my understanding of relationships and human behavior. Over time, this insight became invaluable in my professional life, particularly as a post-production editor, where every detail matters. My early fascination with narrative flow and character development, coupled with my ability to see beyond the surface, laid the groundwork for my approach to editing. Today, I use this unique blend of insight and attention to detail to craft stories that resonate on a deeper level, creating meaningful connections between the audience and the visuals I bring to life.

Master of Storytelling

My journey didn’t just shape my technical skills; it gave me a storyteller’s perspective. Those formative years spent understanding people, reading extensively, and observing subtle human dynamics shaped my storytelling voice. This background allows me to approach each project with a blend of creativity and awareness, looking beyond the visuals to find the emotional core that makes each story come alive. Every post production editing project that I accept is an opportunity to dive deeper, to tell a story with authenticity and precision, bringing together the narrative and the visuals to create something impactful.

The Inspiration

For me, the creative process for a post productions editor can kick in at any stage—sometimes it sparks while I’m on set watching the captured footage or even earlier while I’m drafting the script. But other times, inspiration doesn’t fully take hold until I’m deep in the editing bay, piecing together the visuals and finding the story within the footage. It’s pure joy.

Little Known Facts

There’s only one book that I have ever thought was better than the movie – Stir of Echoes.
I can make my own bread, face cream, clothing, buttermilk, bug spray, etc.
I have seen Pulp Fiction about 200 times.

Favorite Movie Quotes

“If you don’t have anything nice to say, come sit by me.” – Steele Magnolias

“If I can’t gut out this house and make it my own, I will go insane and I will take you with me.” – Beetlejuice

My Love for Reading

The book that first ignited my love for reading was James and the Giant Peach—it opened my eyes to the magic of storytelling. Over the years, some of my favorites have included Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier and Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell, both rich in history and character depth. And, I have to say, Jodi Picoult’s books continue to captivate me; almost every time I read one, her stories challenge my perspective and make me see the world in new ways. This can only be a good thing to a post production editor.

Charity Work

I dedicate my time and skills to several meaningful causes, one of which is sewing bereavement gowns for infants who pass away too soon, crafted from donated wedding dresses. These gowns carry a special sentiment; they come from dresses worn on a day filled with love, making them a fitting, heartfelt fabric to gently wrap a loved infant as they’re laid to rest. It’s a way to honor both the wedding dress’s history and the memory of each precious life.
